The Rowing Clinic

CAU On-campus Summer Programs

Week 1: July 12-18, 2009

The Rowing Clinic

Cornell Crew Coach Todd Kennett and his able assistants will introduce you to all the rowing basics. We'll begin with sessions in the Cornell crew tanks at Teagle Hall and then head down to the Collyer and Robison shellhouses on Cayuga Inlet, where you'll row in sweep and/or sculling boats. Indoors and out, you'll learn the strokes used by the Cornell crew, perfect your boat-handling skills, practice techniques in eights, fours, doubles, and singles, learn about training for fitness on rowing ergometers, and test your ability with some races at the end of the week. During the week you'll also enjoy a special strength-training session at Cornell's state-of-the-art Friedman Strength and Conditioning Center. No previous rowing experience is necessary. Facilities and equipment fee: $100.
