Credit courses

If you'd like to earn credit for a class but find that coming to (or staying on) campus is not an option, distance learning can be the perfect solution.

Most of our for-credit distance learning courses are delivered via the Web-based learning system Blackboard. You complete your assignments and examinations within a scheduled time frame, but you have the option of getting a head start on readings and lectures. Generally, you interact with the instructor and other students by phone, e-mail, and/or discussion boards.

We offer for-credit distance learning courses year round, with most falling in the winter and summer. Most classes are open to anyone who wishes to enroll and register.

What our students say

"A unique opportunity for students around the world to take part in higher education through Cornell University ... I feel the program is very helpful and is well-organized and structured." Brian Cornell (Literature, Politics, and Genocide in Cambodia)

"A great way to earn extra credits during the break." Kevin Wong (Introductory Microeconomics)

"I took AEM 2400 via distance learning during the Winter Session, and if it wasn't for this Winter Session availability, I wouldn't be able to minor in business." Eric Young (Marketing)

"I enjoyed the online, wiki method, and I learned a lot about technology in addition to the material covered in class. The professor was very kind and helpful ... It's a great way to get ahead, especially during a time where you usually do not have too many other commitments." Maria Monte (Rastafari, Race, and Resistance)
