Registration takes place in B20 Day HallSee the Extramural Study Calendar for registration dates. With few exceptions, you may enroll in any course in the university if space is available. Extramural students may register for up to eleven credits a semester. This credit limit may be exceeded only in the most extraordinary of circumstances. Any request to do so must be submitted to the registrar of the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions with a written explanation of these circumstances. If you're an undergraduate, the request must include the endorsements of your faculty advisor and your college registrar. (If you're a student in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences, you should seek the support of your advising dean instead of your college registrar.) A meeting with one of the deans of the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions may also be required. International registrants should see our "International Registrants" page for further information. Students who register for more than six credits must meet the New York State immunization requirements. Extramural students who register for credit may use facilities directly related to their academic courses and, after registering with the Access Services desk in Olin Library, borrow books from the University Library. Extramural students may not use the health center, the student unions, physical recreation facilities, or other facilities covered by the university general fee paid by full-time Cornell students. Registration procedures for extramural study at Cornell vary. Please be sure to follow the steps outlined in the category under which you are registering. These steps are described on the following pages:
If you have questions about registration, please contact us. Please note: Cornell degree candidates have priority in class enrollment. Instructors allow extramural applicants to register only after space availability has been determined. All extramural registrants are held to the same academic standards and code of conduct as other members of the Cornell community. For more information about conduct, see our policies and disclaimers page. Corporate LearnersAre you looking for career advancement, job skills development, and personal growth?
