Saturday, June 21
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Check-in — North Campus off Pleasant Grove Road
Residence halls open at 8:00 a.m. Even if you know Cornell, it is imperative that you enter A-lot from the Pleasant Grove Road entrance. Look for signs directing you to the A-lot parking lot on Cornell’s North Campus. Staff members in the A-lot will provide you with directions to your student’s residence hall. Here, you’ll receive your room keys, Welcome Packet, course schedule, and the Cornell ID card you’ll use for dining, gain access to your residence hall, do laundry, borrow books, use athletic facilities, and enjoy various other campus privileges. Note: Access to the above is contingent upon us receiving all of your student’s required forms prior to their arrival. If we have not received your forms, you must give them to the Summer College staff at the Robert Purcell Community Center. We cannot accommodate arrivals before 8:00 a.m. on June 21. Please call the Summer College office (607.255.6203) to let us know if you will be arriving after 5:00 p.m. (For information about area accommodations, see "Local Lodging.")
Your Welcome Packet will contain a map of campus and a schedule of opening-day sessions and events, including:
10:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Brunch — North Star in Appel Commons
You'll sample some of the best food in the Ivy League. It may not be home cooking, so if you have meal suggestions or recipes to share, the dining management would like to know. Students will use their Cornell ID; parents/guardians may buy guest meal tickets. Please call ahead (607.254.2992) to let Dining know of any special dietary needs.
Starting at 1:00 p.m. (and every 10-15 minutes thereafter), buses will pick up students and families at the Robert Purcell Community Center bus stop—west side on Sisson Place and at the Appel Commons parking lot. The drop off is at Bailey Hall. Buses will return everyone to the Robert Purcell bus stop when the Faculty Convocation concludes. If you prefer to walk, it's a 20-minutes stroll to and from North Campus.
