The information presented below pertains to the 2008 Summer College program. Ethnicities information

Cornell's freshman application (upon which Summer College's optional application-question about ethinicities is based) describes the following ethnicities:

African American, African, Black:
A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa or the Caribbean Islands.
Asian American or Asian, including Indian Subcontinent:
A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Hispanic, Latino:
A person of Cuban, South or Central American, Dominican Republic, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race.
Mexican American, Chicano:
A person of Mexican culture or origin, regardless of race.
Native American, Alaska native:
A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.
Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander:
A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.
Puerto Rican:
A person of Puerto Rican culture or origin, regardless of race.
White or Caucasian:
A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.
