New York State Regents Examinations

Dear New York State high school students,

Occasionally Summer College and New York State Regents Examination dates conflict. Unfortunately, that is the case this year with our programs beginning in June. As in past years, we have developed accommodations for you to take your Regents exam(s) while you are at Summer College.

To put these arrangements in place for you, we need New York State residents who are scheduled to take Regents exams during the week of June 23 to let us know immediately -- and no later than April 4 -- which Regents exams they want to take at Cornell. Space will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Space may be limited. Please see the instructions below for more information.

We ask that students who live within a two- to three-hour drive from Ithaca make arrangements to return to their home high school to take their exam(s).

Instructions for taking your Regents exam(s) at Cornell:

  • To reserve a testing seat you must send us a permission form to take your Regents exam(s) at Cornell University. You, your parents, and your high school principal or director of guidance must sign this form before you send it to Summer College. We must receive this form by April 4. We will reserve testing seats on a first-come, first-served basis. Space may be limited. (We have sent this form to NYS applicants. If you need another copy, you may download the form here as a PDF. To view the PDF, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
  • If you have been approved for an accommodation for a Regents exam(s) under Section 504 Plan or IDEA, your principal or director of guidance must state this on the form and describe the specific accommodation.
  • Regents exams will be given during the morning and afternoon of Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, June 25, on the Cornell campus.
  • Cascadilla School (an independent co-educational, not-for-profit high school located adjacent to Cornell) will administer and grade the exams. For more information about Cascadilla, visit www.cascadillaschool.org.
  • Grading will be completed by Friday, June 26. Grades will be sent to your school on an official Cascadilla School transcript on Monday, June 30.
  • Summer College will let your professors know when you are scheduled to take your Regents exam and that they should excuse you from class at that time. It is your responsibility to make up any missed classwork.
  • To be admitted to the exam you must bring a photo ID with you. You'll receive a Cornell ID when you arrive at Summer College that you can use to be admitted to the test. Or, you may use any other photo ID with your name on it.
  • You must remember to bring any appropriate tools with you to the exam, such as a graphing calculator for the math Regents.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you have any questions about this process.

Thank you,
The Summer College staff
