"CCCPP was the most wonderful summer in my life. Every day was unforgettable and unique. How I wish I could spend more time at Cornell!"
Huan Song, CCCPP graduate
WuXi No. 1 High School
China-Cornell College Preparatory Program
Student Life at Cornell University
CCCPP students live with other Summer College students in University residence halls and eat all meals in University dining halls. They participate in a full range of extracurricular activities, including tours of Cornell research facilities and University libraries; join in cultural and arts events on campus; play intramural sports; and go on local field trips.
Teaching assistants, residence hall community advisors, and program assistants carefully supervise the students. In addition, CCCPP students also work with a dedicated program assistant who lives near the students, provides guidance to them outside of their classroom experiences, and plans supplementary acculturation activities for them.
Upon their arrival at Cornell, CCCPP students meet University deans, the Summer College program director, the CCCPP program assistant, residential staff members, faculty members and teaching assistants, and other Summer College participants, including international students. An orientation program helps students adjust to both academic and campus life at Cornell. It provides each student with a better understanding of Cornell’s academic structure, the nature of the classroom atmosphere, and instructor expectations. Students also learn about relevant health and safety issues, and banking and money matters. They also have an opportunity to go sightseeing and shopping in Ithaca, to learn how to use the public transportation system, and to meet local families.
