"My skills have improved tremendously after attending the summer course in Ithaca. I had golden opportunities to talk with other international students who came from different places and had different backgrounds. Summer College in Ithaca gave me the opportunity to visit a new place and experience dorm life on the main campus."

Mohammed Al-Hajri, Class of 2014 (Foundation Program 2007)

Academic life

Qatar-Cornell students enroll in two Cornell University courses, have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned faculty members, and interact with other Cornell students.

QCPPP students take "Critical Reading and Thinking," which focuses on the critical thinking, effective reading, analytical writing, and research skills necessary for success in college.

Students also enroll in a writing seminar on "The Personal Essay," offered in partnership with Cornell's John S. Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines, one of the nation's oldest and most comprehensive writing-across-the-curriculum programs. This course is taught in small sections and includes frequent one-on-one instruction in the planning, composition, and revision of papers based on assigned readings and discussions.

Students are expected to attend all classes and complete all coursework. They are evaluated alongside other Cornell students on an A--F scale based on earned grades. Academic support is available from a number of sources, including the Summer College, writing tutors, advising and residential program offices. Further, all Qatar-Cornell students have access to Cornell's outstanding resources, including 20 libraries and cutting-edge computing services.
