"The English class in particular has helped me improve my writing skills tremendously by working on my organizational and topic analysis. Writing a scientific paper was a hassle for me before I took the Bio-research and Exploration course, but now I find it very interesting because I have learned the basis and the purpose of writing a good scientific paper. My summer in Ithaca was an unforgettable experience!"
Amna Al Khuzaei, Class of 2014 (Foundation Program 2008)
Program overview
The Qatar-Cornell Premedical Preparatory Program (QCPPP) is designed to prepare students in the Foundation Program at the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar for their premedical studies while also offering them the unique opportunity to study and live on Cornell's U.S. campus in Ithaca, New York.
This six-week program builds upon the Foundation Program's goals of creating a supportive environment within which students can:
- improve their English proficiency,
- develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and
- challenge themselves to stretch intellectually and personally.
All QCPPP participants are part of Cornell University's Summer College, one of the oldest, largest, and most well-respected programs of its kind. Each year Summer College hosts more than 800 outstanding high school students from across the United States and abroad. These talented students live with people from many different cultures and backgrounds, enroll in classes for college credit alongside undergraduates, participate in a vast array of extracurricular activities, and enjoy Ithaca, a small, rural, and historic city surrounded by lush nature preserves.
