Hi everyone, my name is Ben, and I will be taking Genius and Madness in Literature this summer. I'm a senior from Calabasas, California, right over the hill from Malibu. Despite the stereotypes, I traded in my surfboard for AP Study books a while ago! I'm really looking forward to Cornell and can't wait to meet all the new people. I've taken two pre-college summer programs before, but this will be my first credit course, so it will definitely be a new experience. Normally I'm a very math/science-oriented person, so this summer really presents an opportunity for me to diversify my interests. I hope to see you all around campus!

Hey there everyone! I just finished my first week at Cornell Summer College, and I must say that it has been an incredible experience so far. Despite the weather on the first day (us Californians are most definitely not accustomed to rain), everything has been going very well. Cornell has a stunning campus, and it really has been a pleasure to explore. My residence hall is incredibly diverse, and all the people I have met so far have been incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially the six-weekers, who have done a really good job of showing me the ropes. The heterogeneity of this place is amazing!
My class has been a great experience too! The texts we read are especially interesting, and the discussions we have go much deeper into the subject matter than I have ever experienced in high school. I just turned in my first paper today, and while it forced me to work harder than ever before, it's a very rewarding experience to be able to write on a whole new level.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of my Summer College experience.

As I start my last week at Cornell, I really can't believe how quickly the entire experience went by. As I sit here writing this, I have a little more than 4 days left to enjoy the campus. Thankfully, I've done most of the things I wanted to do, so I don't feel that panicked to finish everything up.
My course, Genius and Madness in Literature, has really been ramping up this week. We had pretty large amounts of reading, coupled with some killer essays. Thankfully, it's not all work and no play, and we got some relaxing breaks such as watching One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and a really good guest lecturer. The quality of the class continues to be incredibly high, and I'm even enjoying the work that accompanies the experience.
Aside from class, the "work hard, play hard" motto definitely sticks. The RCAs did a great job of setting up a night time glow-in-the-dark Capture the Flag game, and despite some near-death spills down Cornell's sloping campus, I had the time of my life with my friends. The people here just keep getting better and better too! From ordering Chinese food at one in the morning to getting horribly lost on my way to the Ithaca Commons, everything turns into an experience.
By the way, I've been noticed a couple of times by completely random people due to my appearance on the Web site. All I need is a screaming mob of paparazzi with cameras, and I will feel like I'm right back in LA.
