Dining
Cornell Dining has earned the reputation for hosting the finest dining program in the Ivy League. It owes its success, in part, to recognition of student diversity. You'll find a wide and varying selection of foods at breakfast, lunch, and dinner (on Saturdays and Sundays, brunch and dinner). If you don't see your favorite foods, look for the suggestion box in the dining rooms. Tell us what you'd like.
Dress in the dining rooms is comfortable and informal; we do ask, however, that you wear shoes and a shirt at all times.
Your Cornell ID card
You'll get your Cornell ID card at check-in when you arrive on campus. It's the one with your picture on it. Your Cornell ID card identifies you as a current member of the Cornell community and should be carried at all times. You'll use it for a variety of services at Cornell, including
- as an electronic door key,
- for eating in the dining halls, and
- for doing laundry.
If you lose your card, you'll have to stop by the Summer College Academic Advising Office in B20 Day Hall and pay a replacement fee.
Summer Bucks account
You or your parents/guardians can put money on your Cornell ID card to purchase water and snacks in many vending machines on campus or at Bear Necessities in Robert Purcell Community Center through a Summer Bucks account. You can set up this account once you're on campus by visiting the Campus Life Web site. Funds in this account are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Students with special dietary requirements
If you have special diet requirements, Cornell dining can accommodate you. Our culinary staff is dedicated to working with each request. In order to have special meals prepared, you must first register with Student Disability Services (SDS). Upon review of medical documentations, SDS refers you to the Staff Nutritionist of Cornell Dining, who will meet with you regarding the special diet. Register online at www.sds.cornell.edu.
Prepackaged kosher meals are available. The meals are prepared at our kosher dining facility, 104 West. Meals are double wrapped and sometimes frozen. Fresh double-wrapped sandwiches also can be delivered upon request. If you wish to request kosher meals, please contact the North Star Dining managers at 607.254.2998 before you arrive on campus. You may pre-order kosher meals through the dining supervisor or door checker on duty at North Star Dining. If you order kosher meals but do not pick them up, you will be charged an additional fee.
In addition, vegetarian and vegan foods are available. Veggie burgers, hummus, and beans are offered daily.
For any other questions about the foods we serve, please contact Cornell Dining at 607.255.5952 or visit their Web site at www.dining.cornell.edu.
