Ithaca and the Finger Lakes
So, where is Ithaca? Its located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, one of the northeasts most attractive summer vacation areas.
The city of Syracuse, the Finger Lakes Wine Trail, the Watkins Glen auto racing circuit, and several centers for the performing arts are all within an hours drive. The Catskill Mountains and Adirondack Park are approximately three hours away, and New York City and Toronto are less than five hours away.
While in Ithaca, you can swim under a refreshing waterfall in one of the areas stunning state parks, watch the sun set over Cayuga Lake, or stroll through Dewitt Mall, an old public school converted into shops, art galleries, and cafes, and home to the famed Moosewood Restaurant.
Ithaca has an abundance of local stages, movie theatres, bookstores, museums, and shopping malls, as well as its own farmer's market, so there's plenty to do when you want to go off campus or when your friends and family come to visit.
VisitIthaca.com is a great source for where they can stay and where they can eat; and the Ithaca Journal and the Ithaca Times will let them know what there is to see and do.
