Final exams

The course classroom is used unless a change is arranged by the instructor or department course coordinator.

A course that requires an end-of-class exercise (for example, a paper, project report, final critique, oral presentation, or conference) in lieu of or in addition to a traditional final examination, must advertise at the beginning of the semester the nature of the exercise. If there is no final examination in a course, an announcement must be made to that effect. A course that requires an end-of-class exercise and does not offer a final examination must allow students at least until the date appearing on the official examination schedule to complete submission of materials associated with the culminating exercise. (For example, a student making a presentation during the last week of classes or during study period will have at least until the scheduled final-exam date to submit a final write-up or equivalent.)

Proposed deviations from the final-examination schedule must be submitted in writing for approval by the associate dean and are permitted only if all class members and the instructor agree on the change and it has been determined that no student in the class has a conflict in time.

Three-Week Summer Session: May 30 - June 22, 2012

Final examinations will take place on Friday, June 22, in your classroom at your regular class time or another time convenient to you and the entire class.

Eight-Week Summer Session: June 11 - August 7, 2012

Final examinations will take place Monday and Tuesday, August 6-7, 2012 at these times:

  • 8:30 a.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 10:00 a.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • 6:00 p.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Evening classes - Last class meeting

Six-Week Summer Session: June 25 - August 7, 2012

Final examinations will take place Monday and Tuesday, August 6-7, 2012 at these times:

  • 8:30 a.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 10:00 a.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. classes - Tuesday, August 7, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • 6:00 p.m. classes - Monday, August 6, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Evening classes - Last class meeting

Special Programs and Online Courses

Directors of special programs and instructors of online courses schedule their own exams. Participants should check with the director or instructor.

Final examinations for sessions of less than three, three-, four-, or five-week periods will take place on the final day of your period in your classroom at your regular class time or another time convenient to you and the entire class.
