ARTH 4526 Caribbean Dialogs
This course explores Caribbean culture through the prism of its cultural products, art, music, and literature. It combines rigorous research, innovative technology, thought-provoking reading and 'real time' on-line conversations to build an understanding of cultural life in the region. Using Caribbean art as a case study, we explore themes such as new world history, colonialism, diaspora, trauma, violence, and tourism.
The course is designed as a distance-learning course allowing students to interact directly with the professor using a virtual meeting/classroom and pre-recorded podcasts or audio visual lectures. No special skills are required but an interest in the arts and other cultures, as well as a zeal for learning, are givens. We will be working with innovative software that allows students to web log and create web pages almost intuitively.
See ARTH 4526 Caribbean Dialogs for more information, and the Enrollment and registration page for information on how to enroll.
