Summer in Washington

Program dates: June 2-July 25, 2008

Program Description

The Summer in Washington program, cosponsored by the Cornell in Washington Program and the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, is open to undergraduates at any college or university who have completed at least the freshman year.

The program offers an intensive, multifaceted experience designed to give participants a greater understanding of the workings of government and the processes by which public policy is developed. Students enroll in two of three courses, which they attend in the morning and in the evening; most of the day is devoted to individual internships at congressional committee offices, executive-branch agencies, interest groups, arts and research institutions, and other organizations involved in public policy.

Participants live, and classes and program activities are held, at the Cornell Center (near Dupont Circle).
