As a student in this program you'll take a four-credit course, "AEM 2190: Introduction to Applied Portfolio Management," taught by Professor Dase. The course will provide you with a unique opportunity to get an insiders view of the dynamic world of the global capital markets. It will focus on helping you develop a core set of financial and analytical skills used by the professionals who control and allocate capital on a global basis: portfolio managers, hedge fund traders, private equity, investment bankers, etc. You'll also have an opportunity to apply these skills through specific case study discussions in class. Among the topics you'll explore will be capital markets; the impact of the economy and the Federal Reserve System; recent stock market history; regulation; investment banking; and management principles of both institutional and individual portfolios. A highlight of the cou! rse will be visits by several guest speakers who hold senior executive positions throughout the financial services industry.
