Independent Study
Can't find the course you want? Consider independent study.
You can register for practically any Cornell course listed in Courses of Study if you can find a professor willing to supervise the coursework through independent study. (This may be an independent study course or it may be any other course that a faculty member is willing to offer on a tutorial basis.)
To register, complete the application for independent study (used for recording credit courses not listed in our online course catalog) available online or in B20 Day Hall, and follow the steps under "How to Register." This must be done at least two weeks prior to beginning the independent study course. Then enjoy yourself!
Another option is to request that the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions try to arrange with the appropriate department to offer a course from the fall or spring roster. This can be done if a sufficient number of participants (perhaps as few as five or six) can be identified.
