Credits & Grades
Academic credit
If you are a Cornell undergraduate, check with your college before submitting the course-enrollment form to make sure that credit for Winter Session courses will count toward your degree.
If you are a candidate for a graduate or undergraduate degree elsewhere, consult the appropriate official in your college or university to make sure that the credit you earn at Cornell will count toward your degree. In most cases Cornell awards the same number of credits for each Winter Session course as it does for fall- and spring-term courses.
Cornell grants academic credit in semester units. To convert them to quarter units, multiply by 1.5.
Grades and symbols
Refer to the Cornell University publication Courses of Study for complete information. Please note these winter-specific details:
- If you withdraw from a course after January 6, 2009, the symbol W appears on your transcript for the dropped course. The purpose is to maintain the transcript as a true and complete record of course attendance.
- When you register as an auditor, the symbol V appears on your transcript. (Note: Cornell undergraduates are not permitted to audit courses.)
- Grade reports are available through Just the Facts after January 26, 2009, and will be mailed to your home address after . Grades are not given over the telephone nor will they be faxed.
