Scott MacDonald

Scott MacDonald is senior associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, a professor of philosophy, and the Norma K. Regan Professor in Christian Studies at Cornell University. He holds advanced degrees from the University of St. Andrews and Cornell.

Scott's research interests include ancient and medieval philosophy (including Aristotle, Augustine, Anselm, and Aquinas—the A-team), early Christian thought, philosophical theology, and issues in moral psychology and the philosophy of action, especially regarding free will, moral responsibility, and practical reasoning. In 2010 he moved to West Campus as the Dale R. Corson House Professor and Dean of Hans A. Bethe House.
