Therese O’Connor is the manager of staff training and professional development for the over 400 staff in Cornell University Dining and Catering. Prior to this appointment in 2009, Therese spent twenty-six years as a faculty member of Cornell’s Hotel School, teaching courses in food and beverage operations and management, culinary theory and technique, and culture and cuisine. She has also taught courses on contract management of food service operations and on social responsibility, with a focus on hunger and housing issues for the poor.
Therese holds an MS in education and training from Elmira College and a BS in nutrition and food service from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh. She is a certified instructor for the National Restaurant Association Food Safety Protocol/ServSafe and for the National Environmental Health Association.
