Gustavo Flores-Macias

Gustavo A. Flores-Macias is an assistant professor in the Department of Government at Cornell. He teaches Latin American Politics, Economy, and Society; War and the State; and Politics of Energy and Natural Resources. He has also taught courses in comparative politics, Latin American politics, globalization and world affairs, and statistics at Harvard, Georgetown, and Duke. While teaching at Harvard, he received the Derek Bok Distinction in Teaching Award in 2008.

Flores-Macias is the author of After Neoliberalism? The Left and Economic Reforms in Latin America. He holds a PhD in political science from Georgetown University, an MPP from Duke University, and a BA in international relations from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico City. Before joining the Government Department at Cornell, he was a fellow at Cornell's Polson Institute for Global Development.
