Irene Lekstutis has been a landscape designer at Cornell Botanic Gardens since 2001. She holds BS and MS degrees in ornamental horticulture and a master’s of landscape architecture from Cornell University. Her horticultural studies focused on plant materials and horticultural taxonomy.
As a lecturer in the Department of Horticulture at Cornell, Irene has taught courses in plant materials, planting design, and general horticulture. Her design influence at the Botanical Gardens, visible throughout the arboretum and botanical garden, includes both hardscape installations and planting designs based on both hardy and tropical plants.
