Severin Drix

Severin Drix has been teaching math at Ithaca High School for 43 years and has taught a course there on Fractals and Chaos for 23 semesters. It is designed for students with a wide range of math backgrounds, and many students have said it was their favorite high school course.

Severin has a BA in mathematics and an MAT, both from Cornell. He is fascinated by mathematics and its connections with science, art, and philosophy. His other interests include bicycling, organic gardening, and tiddlywinks. He started the Cornell tiddlywinks team, led it to a North American title, and later was world singles champion for over two years.
