Little Bears (3-4)

A typical day in the Little Bears program begins with a morning of easy-going educational activities followed by lunch, afternoon recreation, workshops, snacks, and visits to places of interest at Cornell and in Ithaca.


Program options

Life on a Farm
Little Bears experience daily life at a Cornell farm. Activities include learning how to interact and care for animals, planting seeds, and fun with a variety of arts, crafts, and games; plus, plenty of time in the fresh, country air. Offered weeks 1 and 3.

World of Dr. Seuss
Oh, The Places You’ll Go during this fun-filled week of Dr. Seuss! This Little Bear program focuses on early reading activities peppered with lots of silliness and imagination. Crafts, games, and outdoor activities are integrated into a wonderful, whimsical camp experience. Offered weeks 2 and 4.

Sample day for Little Bears (3-4) and Tykes (5-6)

  • 7:15-8:30 a.m.: Before-camp activities: Crafts, games, free play with breakfast snacks available*
  • 8:30-9:00 a.m.: Welcome activity: Upon arrival, campers join an activity
  • 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.: Academic activities based on age group
  • 12:00-1:00 p.m.: Lunch provided in the Northstar Eatery, Appel Community Center
  • 1:00-2:30 p.m.: Visit to Ithaca's Sciencenter for hands-on discovery
  • 3:00-4:00 p.m.: Outdoor water play
  • 4:00-4:30 p.m.: Snacks and games
  • 4:30-6:00 p.m.: After-camp activities*

Youth program fees

Courses with additional fees and are noted within the course information. Otherwise, the program fees (per child, per week) include

Residential camp fees cover all youth activities including the academic program, housing, seventeen meals, and all morning, afternoon and evening activities. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with optional evening care from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Children reside in Court/Kay Hall or North Campus Townhouses with their accompanying adult who is registered in the CAU adult program. Participants may also choose to reside off-campus at the Homewood Suites. See Housing for details.

Day camp fees cover the following activities: academic program, five lunches, and all morning and afternoon activities. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Extended-care fees

  • Before-camp care: $45 (per camper, per week)
  • After-care: $45 (per youngster, per week)
  • Both before-care and aftercare: $80 (per youngster, per week)
  • Daily drop-ins, Early/Late: $10 per instance
  • Evening care: $30 (per youngster, per night) (This fee does not apply to residential campers as it is included in their residential fee.)
