Auditing a course

If you'd like to attend a class at Cornell, don't need to earn credits, but would like the course to appear on your transcript, you may register as an auditor.*

As an auditor, you must attend class regularly and complete all the required work, except any that is graded. You are charged the same tuition and fees as if you were taking the course for credit, and the course appears on your transcript. If you do not need the course to appear on your transcript, you may wish to consider the Visitors Program.

To register to audit a course, please follow the procedures outlined on the general registrants page.

Note: Cornell undergrads and Cornell University Summer College students may not audit courses.

*The audit option is not available for every course.
