Along with many other Americans, White as well as Black, Tommie Shelby wants to see the day that ghettos are abolished. But abolition, he maintains, involves more than overcoming racial prejudice or reviving the War on Poverty. It will occur only as part of a “fundamental reform of the basic structure of American society.”
