The Spectre of Race:  How Discrimination Haunts Western Democracy

In 1873, Edward A. Freeman, a founder of comparative politics, proposed an analytical framework for the new field. A scientific method to study political phenomena, he suggested, should avoid excessive reliance on empirical detail, spatial and temporal boundaries, and anecdotal evidence.
