Cornell University School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, August 15, 2007

Uniondale FFA members Christopher Daniels and Victor Flores have won a place in Cornell University's prestigious Summer College College Programs for High School Students. Daniels and Flores will attend the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) "College to Career: Opportunities to Explore" program.

The two high school sophomores were selected for this honor in May 2007 when their research project, "The Exploration and Discovery of the Nature of Plant Elicitors and Their Effect on Garden Peas," ranked first of the thirty-two exhibits presented at the 84th Annual New York State FFA Convention in Albion, New York. Daniels and Flores will receive full funding to attend the three-week program courtesy of CALS.

Over the summer, they will work with CALS faculty researchers on a current project and participate in hands-on seminars focused on exploring the various academic opportunities within CALS while earning college credit.

The event was also sponsored by the CALS Alumni Association and each participant received a book award. For more information visit http://www.cals.cornell.edu.
