Orientation events will be added over the next few days and may vary depending upon your arrival date. Please check back here periodically for updates.

Friday January 19

Belonging at Cornell
3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Klarman Hall Auditorium
Come and listen to real student stories about experiences of identity and belonging at Cornell. Find out how other students have handled challenges, found a home at Cornell, and helped create a sense of belonging for others. This required program will introduce you to Cornell's values and expectations related to identities and bias, and to the university's campus-wide commitment to promoting a spirit of inclusiveness and respect for all members of the community, creating a sense of belonging for everyone.

Fireside Chats with Cornell Alumni
4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Browsing Library, Willard Straight Hall
Come and meet Cornell alumni who have traveled the paths you're about to embark on. They'll share their favorite campus spots with you, tell you about their challenges and what helped them, give you insights on their undergraduate colleges, and, most importantly, give a warm welcome to our newest members of the Cornell community. Enjoy refreshments in an informal setting.

Movie Night
7:30 p.m., Klarman Hall Auditorium
It wouldn't be Orientation without movie night. Come and have some laughs with fellow new students. Refreshments provided.

Saturday January 20

Coffee Hour: Transfer and Exchange Students
10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Café Jennie, Campus Store
Get to know a central campus hot spot in the Campus Store, Café Jennie, named for Jennie McGraw, who donated our campus chimes. Orientation volunteers will get you a hot drink and be on hand to chat and answer questions.

Laser Tag and Shopping Excursion
1:00 to 4:30 p.m., meet at Ithaca Mall, TCAT bus stops on campus
Join your fellow Cornellians in a trip to the mall. Get to know the local bus system, pick up a few last-minute things for your room, and challenge each other in a battle of endurance and skill playing laser tag, with pizza and drinks provided. Shops at the mall will offer specials for new students. Use your TCAT pass (on your Cornell ID card) to take the Route 30 or the Route 70; see schedule at www.tcatbus.com.

Night at the Johnson
7:30 p.m., Johnson Museum
Experience the magic of an after-hours event at Cornell's wonderful Johnson Museum with art, music, food, desserts, and drinks. Dress up or dress down and get ready for a fun time!

Sunday, January 21

Bowling
Noon to 2 p.m., Helen Newman Lanes
Enjoy bowling at our very own Helen Newman Lanes. Located right on North Campus, it's a short walk from North Campus halls, or grab the TCAT to get to North (tcatbus.com/route70). Food, drinks, and desserts will be provided.

Central Campus Tour
12:30 to 1:30 p.m., meet in front of Willard Straight Hall
Join Orientation volunteers and fellow new students for a tour of the Cornell central campus. Tour leaders will show you some special Cornell places and resources you'll want to know about and answer your questions about getting around.

Open Gym
12:30 to 3:00 p.m., Helen Newman Gym
Cornell has great gyms and fitness centers. Come and try exercise machines, play some games, learn about club and intramural sports, and hang out! Bring your Cornell ID and appropriate gym attire, including clean, dry shoes to enter the facilities.

Collegetown to Beebe Lake Tour
1:00 to 2:00 p.m., meet in front of Anabel Taylor Hall
Check out Cornell's campus in Collegetown and make your way through some popular campus areas on the way to Beebe Lake. The tour will end at Helen Newman Gym, where you can join in open gym activities.

Speak About It
4:00 to 5:15 p.m., Klarman Auditorium
This performance-based presentation includes thought-provoking and sometimes humorous skits and monologues, all based on true stories dealing with sexual consent, assault and misconduct, and bystander intervention. The program will also introduce you to many Cornell resources.

Bienvenidos Dessert Reception for University of Puerto Rico (UPR) students (all UPR students requested to attend)
6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Clark Atrium, Physical Sciences Building; program begins at 6:30 p.m.
Join the Puerto Rican Student Association, graduate student organizations, Latina/o/x Student Success Office (LSSO), and Latina/o Studies Program faculty to begin your orientation and meet your mentors! Made possible with support by the Office of the Provost.
