Cornell University School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions

Enrollment and registration

Part-time students

Are you interested in furthering your career, continuing your education, or simply having fun learning something new? Even if you are not currently enrolled in a Cornell degree program, you may still take courses during the summer (as well as during the fall and spring semesters and Winter Session) as a part-time student.

Part-time students earn credit for all courses taken and their grades are recorded on an official university transcript.

Questions about applying credit earned through part-time study toward Cornell degrees or about admission to Cornell must be directed to the appropriate college. The transfer of credit to another institution is subject to the approval of that institution.

Online enrollment is available for most classes from March through early May. After this date, students may enroll in person or by mail up to and beyond the first day of class, with some exceptions. See the academic calendar.
