June 4-July 27, 2018

Courses

Students register for one of the following Human Ecology courses taught by Sam Beck:

  • HE 4060 Practicing Global Public Health (3 credits)
Students examine the nature of public health through a reflective process while participating in a public health activity. Students investigate a public health issue as it is carried out by an organization and come to understand their own process of learning through experience.
  • HE 4080 Practicing Medicine Health Care Culture and Careers (3 credits)
Students learn through a cycle of action, experience, and reflection and as ethnographic participant observers. Spending four days each week shadowing physicians in assigned NYC private or public hospitals, students learn how to implement experience-based learning techniques and perspectives to enhance their competencies as initiates of professional medical practice.
