Cornell Program for International Undergraduates

Summer 2019

Courses

CPIU students enroll in regular Cornell undergraduate courses. Taught by world-renowned faculty members, these courses are fast-paced and rigorous—so come prepared for a challenge.

Through your classes, you'll gain academic knowledge, improve your English, and become familiar with the teaching and learning styles at an Ivy League university. You're expected to attend all classes and actively participate in classroom discussions.

You'll be evaluated by the same academic standards and procedures as Cornell undergraduate students. If you have concerns about your academic progress, you can meet with the CPIU director to discuss your options.

All CPIU students have access to Cornell’s outstanding resources, including twenty libraries and cutting-edge computing services and laboratories.

Tips for selecting courses

When selecting a course,

  • Confirm that you are eligible to take the course and that you meet the prerequisites;
  • Be sure that it does not conflict with the time of your other course; and
  • Consider the amount of work involved before choosing two courses that are writing-intensive (such as courses in the Writing and English departments).
