Tropical Field Ornithology in the Dominican Republic

January 8-22, 2016

The BIOEE 2640 Tropical Field Ornithology course offers a small group of students the opportunity to study birds in the stunning neotropical setting of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Students will learn how to find, identify, and understand the behavior of birds through observational and field techniques; design and implement independent research projects; and participate in daily seminars. Through discussions and assigned readings, students will acquire an understanding of diverse fields of biology and get a glimpse of how scientific research is done. By the end of this intensive two-week course, students will also be able to guide a bird walk.

This course is based at the Center for Biodiversity and Sustainability, run by the Puntacana Ecological Foundation.
